Light rail is not planned for this phase of the project. The purpose of this project is to provide transportation options for a variety of different corridor users. These options include the addition of new transportation infrastructure along with upgrades to existing facilities. This is intended to support the corridor vision in achieving opportunities for multimodal travel.
The limits of the project extend approximately 22 miles through eight local agencies. The decision to separate the corridor into segments was determined by the CO 7 - Corridor Development Plan (CDP). This is to maintain efficient implementation of design recommendations that are tailored to the needs of each segment.
The entire corridor from 28th Street in Boulder to US 85 in Brighton has reached 15% early design plans with individual project improvements being completed concurrently. Construction funds have not yet been identified for corridor. Current construction efforts are ongoing maintenance improvements that do not include future improvements being proposed.

Transit Starter Service is a bus service that is intended to prove ridership within an area that has not met the threshold to warrant a service line. Proving consistent ridership establishes a need for increased service.
The Transit Starter Service is intended to transition to Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service once the bus service duration concludes (2029). The initial stop locations are associated with the Transit Starter Service and are being designed to include BRT elements to seamlessly transition once the Transit Starter Service program has concluded. BRT elements are shown below.
Graphic showing elements consistent with BRT stop locations, including: frequent on-time service, enhanced stations, transit signal priority, bus rapid transit branding, enhanced fare collection systems, comfortable vehicles, level boarding and dedicated lanes where possible.
While we understand this is something that communities along CO 7 are wanting to be achieved, the parameter of the transit starter service is planned to add connectivity within the established limits of the CO 7 Multimodal Corridor project. This includes ten stations beginning at 28th Street in Boulder, Colorado and ending at US 85 in Brighton, Colorado.
