Bridge Repairs in Denver & Adams County

About the Project

This work consists of saw cutting, removing, and disposing of existing deteriorated bridge deck and approach slab concrete for structures at I-225 at MP 11.7 and eastbound on I-76 MP 19.15. The contractor will install inlet protection in all of the bridge inlets. They will repair the deck (Class 2 or 3), remove and replace the expansion devices, also known as expansion joints, which are crucial components that accommodate movement in bridges caused by thermal expansion and contraction, traffic loads, and other factors. Crews will seal the deck with concrete sealer, apply permanent paving markings, and repair the drainage and slope paving eastbound on I-76 at MP 19.15.

This will be the first of three areas where crews will repair aging bridges over railway systems in the Denver area. The project locations include the I-25 exit to I-70, I-225 over Smith Road, Buckley Road over I-76, and the north abutment under Buckley Road Bridge.

The project is planned to be completed by the end of December 2025.

Minor impacts are anticipated, with slight traffic delays expected.
