ADA Ramp Project on US 6 & South Frontage Road in Eagle and Vail

About the Project:

Ramp replacements are located in various areas throughout the towns of Eagle and Vail, CO. Ramp locations in Eagle, CO are located along HWY 6 between milepost 150.12 and 150.64. Ramps in Vail, CO are located along the South Frontage Road between milepost 173.05 and 176.7. The project consists of improvements to bring existing curb ramps into compliance with PROWAG requirements. The work to be performed includes improvements to curb ramps, curb and gutter and sidewalk.


Project Benefits

  • The Americans with Disabilities Act requires state and local governments to make pedestrian crossings accessible to people with disabilities.
  • To comply with ADA requirements, curb ramps must meet specific standards for width, slope, cross slope and placement.
  • ADA ensures that all current standards and requirements are met, pedestrian safety is provided and accessibility is enhanced and maintained on ramps and in crosswalks.

Work Schedule:

  • Construction will begin May 8, 2023
  • The project will be in operation Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Project is anticipated to end at the end of June 2023

Traffic Impacts:

Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:

  • There will be right-turn lane closures with a pedestrian detour throughout the majority of the project.
