I-70 Glenwood Canyon 2021 Emergency Repairs

Work this Week

Nov. 21, 2021

Great news! The westbound lanes of I-70 at MP 123.5/Blue Gulch are now fully open. Commercial vehicle restrictions have been updated for current project work zone conditions.

  • Currently there are no overnight closures anticipated on the project for the end of this week, over the weekend or next week.
  • Due to favorable weather forecasted, the project team plans to continue working through the weekend. The work will be in the permanent lane closed at MP 123.5 but with the increase in weekend traffic volumes, motorists should anticipate possible impacts and slower moving traffic in the area.
  • Crews will not be working Thursday, Nov. 25-28 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
  • Traffic on the eastbound section has now been switched to the right lane in a single lane configuration.  Work will  begin on the concrete box culvert, fiber optic lines, concrete pavement and guardrail for the left lane and shoulder reconstruction.
  • Work to remove debris from the river is anticipated to begin in December.
  • Debris removal of the Concrete Box Culvert (CBC) at MP 124.5/Wagon Gulch location continues.
  • At MP 126.5, on the riverside, there is about 560’ of railing removal and then replacement that will commence.
