I-25 Cable Barrier between Pueblo and Colorado Springs

Crews are installing and resetting median cable barrier along I-25 between Pueblo and Colorado Springs to prevent median crossover crashes.

This work is in response to the substantial crash history and increased traffic volumes in this area. Crews will:

  • Install and reset median cable barrier on new geometric alignment to address median crossover crashes.
  • Regrade earthwork approaches.
  • Patch with hot-mix asphalt.
  • Improve drainage.
  • Complete erosion control measures.
  • Provide space for patrol and emergency vehicles to pull over.
  • Create flatter slopes to reduce maintenance costs.
  • Reduce the number of hits to the cable, reducing maintenance needs.


  • Most work will occur overnight Sunday through Thursday, with some weekend and daytime work possible.
  • All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
