I-25 Cable Barrier between Pueblo and Colorado Springs

  • Location:  Along I-25 between the Pikes Peak International Raceway and the City of Fountain, from milepost 122 to 128.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has completed the reset of median cable barrier along I-25 between Pueblo and Colorado Springs approximately 30 days earlier than previously anticipated. A safety measure to prevent median cross over crashes, this work was done via a multi-phased approach based on crash history and higher traffic volumes, with the goal of having median barrier where appropriate. 

This work is in response to the substantial crash history and increased traffic volumes in this area. Crews will:

  • Installed and reset median cable barrier on new geometric alignment to address median cross over crashes
  • Approaches regraded and slopes flattened to reduce maintenance costs
  • Drainage improvements 
  • Additional space allowing for pullovers for patrol and emergency vehicles
  • Approaches regraded and slopes flattened to reduce maintenance cost
