Long-Term Larkspur Ramp Closures

As part of the I-25 South Gap project, three bridges near Larkspur are being rebuilt. Construction is underway on two of the bridges -- Spruce Mountain Road and Upper Lake Gulch Road. Demolition of the third bridge, the Plum Creek Bridge spanning over Plum Creek between Spruce Mountain Road and Upper Lake Gulch Road, will begin in early November.

To maintain safety of the traveling public and construction crews, long-term closures of the Spruce Mountain Road on-ramp to northbound I-25 and the southbound I-25 off-ramp to Upper Lake Gulch Road will be required. Access to Larkspur will always be maintained (see detour map below).

  • Spruce Mountain Road on-ramp to northbound I-25 – closed on Oct. 6
  • Southbound I-25 off-ramp to Upper Lake Gulch Road – closed on Oct. 25

To access northbound I-25 from Larkspur, motorists should use the Upper Lake Gulch Road on-ramp to northbound I-25. To access Larkspur from southbound I-25, motorists should use the southbound I-25 off-ramp to Spruce Mountain Road.

Each of these closures is expected to last nine months. During these long-term closures, crews may require overnight closures of the southbound I-25 off-ramp to Spruce Mountain Road. In this case, crews will open the southbound I-25 off-ramp to Upper Lake Gulch Road in a temporary configuration so access to Larkspur is maintained.
