I-25 Crossroads Bridge

Project Facts

Project Team

  • Contractor(s): RL Wadsworth of Colorado

The I-25 Crossroads Boulevard Bridge Replacement project began in September 2016 and is expected to be complete by January 2018.

The project consists of replacing the bridges on I-25 at Crossroads Boulevard between mile points (MP) 258.6 to MP 260.1. The majority of the project is funded through Responsible Acceleration of Maintenance and Partnerships (RAMP)* with contributions from the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization. Work will also include the following:

  • Replacing of walls near the bridge
  • Embankment work
  • Temporary asphalt placement for on-site detour phasing
  • Curb and gutter replacement
  • New signage and striping of highway
  • Guardrail replacement

Current Crossroads

Progress

The northbound bridge is complete, and traffic has been shifted onto the new roadway. Because the new northbound structure was built with 28-foot shoulders to accommodate future Express Lanes, the bridge will be able to temporarily handle both flows of traffic until the southbound structure is complete.

The southbound bridge was demolished on Aug. 24, 2017, and the temporary bridge has also been removed. The current priority is additional removals along Crossroads Boulevard, which will ultimately allow enough room for four full lanes of traffic underneath the new bridges.

Expected Traffic Impacts

Two lanes of traffic in each direction on I-25 will be maintained for the duration of the project during daytime hours. Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal. Flaggers will be directing traffic along Crossroads Boulevard.

Some lane closures are expected at night and will be communicated on this site and via email alerts. (Sign up for alerts.) Please use caution and stay alert while traveling through the construction zone.

*RAMP: Responsible Acceleration of Maintenance and Partnerships is a short-term funding program whereby CDOT is funding multi-year projects based on year of expenditure, rather than saving for the full amount of a project before construction begins. Partnership project funding was applied for, and matched by local agencies, to accelerate priority projects in the agencies’ local areas. RAMP projects may see funding from 2015 through 2017.
