Monument Hill Frontage Road Closure

Two-Week Closure of Monument Hill Frontage Road - July 2022

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 11 and lasting for approximately two weeks, crews will require a closure of the Monument Hill Frontage Road between the northern entrance of Misty Acres Boulevard and County Line Road for roadway widening. For access to I-25 and Monument Hill Frontage Road, use the CO 105 interchange (exit 161).

In August 2020, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor partner, Kraemer North America, began major drainage replacement, roadway reconstruction and construction of a new wildlife crossing on Monument Hill Frontage Road as part of the I-25 South Gap project. In addition, crews will install a soundwall between northbound I-25 and the frontage road, from Misty Acres Blvd. near Palmer Ridge High School to the Telios Law building.

Construction of the wildlife crossing will require a 1,100-foot closure of the Monument Hill Frontage Road for about seven months. This closure will be located between the Colorado Heights Campground access points. Local driveways and business access will be maintained. All construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change.

The closure began at 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, and will last into spring 2021.

As one of four wildlife crossings included in the project, this wildlife underpass will help reduce animal-vehicle collisions along the South Gap corridor, and the improved drainage will prevent flooding and soil erosion in this area.
