I-70 B 1st Street & Grand Avenue - Construction Phase

Work this Week

  • I-70B mainline will continue as one lane each direction, 24/7, from Mulberry Street to Main Street with the center lanes closed for waterline, storm drain and fiber installation.
  • Traffic is single lane on I-70B between Main Street and Rood Street, both west and east Rood Street will be closed as excavating work on manholes continues. The Main Street traffic signal is now operational.
  • Mulberry Street remains alternating one lane of traffic under flagger control for continued excavation for pipe work.
  • There will be single lane closures on CO 340/Broadway for potholing and caisson work.
  • Waterline installation continues on North 1st Street with one lane open in each direction under flagger control.
  • Ouray Avenue is closed to through traffic between North 2nd Street west and North 1st Street.

About the Project:

Reconstruction and realignment of I-70 B where CO 340 intersects with First Street and Grand Avenue in Grand Junction. Milling, paving, new waterline and storm drain will be installed. A pedestrian/bike path and ADA curb ramps also included in the project scope.

Work Schedule

  • Work will take place Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Traffic Impacts

  • Just south of the project, West Main St. has the potential for a closure that will be communicated at a future date. Motorists can detour around this closure by accessing Spruce Street to West Rood Avenue.
  • I-70 B from Mulberry Street to Main Street will become one lane in each direction, 24-hours a day/seven days a week.
  • Access to businesses will remain open.
  • Alternate routes are advised.
