  • There are no scheduled lane closures or restrictions in place for next week for the I-70/Ward Road Improvement project in Jefferson County. 
  • Crews are currently performing erosion control, potholing, and other construction activities off the roadway with no impact to vehicular or pedestrian traffic.

About the Project:

This is a safety and traffic operations improvement project located at Interstate 70 and Ward Road (Colorado Highway 72) in Jefferson County. The project includes widening and overlay of pavement and on/off ramps, installing new ramp meters and signs, and adding permanent water quality features and improved access to the RTD Park n Ride.

Work Schedule

  • The project began on Monday, March 1 and will last until early September 2021.
  • Working hours are Mon. to Fri. 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Some night and weekend work will also be required.
  • All construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change

Traffic Impacts

CDOT anticipates medium travel impact to traffic during the period of construction, including:

  • Single lane and shoulder closures will be in place during daytime and overnight hours.
  • The on/off ramps at I-70/Ward Road will be closed during overnight hours later in the project.
  • Signs and flagger operations will exist to safely direct traffic.
  • Some weekend work is expected.
