About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contractor Structures Inc. start work on the Interstate 70 bridge rehabilitation and deck repair project southeast of Byers between Peoria and Deer Trail (Mileposts 323.1 to 325.3).
Work consists of:
- Bridge deck repairs at four structures
- Full depth concrete pavement reconstruction at bridge approaches
- Girder and column repairs
The project is expected to complete in September 2026.

The project will lengthen the lifespan of the four structures and help maintain safe driving conditions.
Traffic Impacts
- Single lane and shoulder closures will be in place 24/7 on I-70 in both directions between Deer Trail and Peoria beginning 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16 through November 21. Traffic will be narrowed down to one lane in each direction through the work zone. There will be a winter construction shutdown from this late November through the end of next March.
- Motorists are urged to heed the speed limit, provide plenty of following distance and watch for crews and equipment in the work zone. They will be out during daytime hours.
