Traffic and Construction Impacts

Construction activities will halt at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 25 for the holiday weekend and will resume at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 30. Long-term closures will remain in place.

Upcoming Work

  • Holly Street under I-70 to close for approximately three weeks starting Dec. 1
  • Westbound I-70 off-ramp to Brighton Boulevard to close through summer 2021 starting at 7 p.m., Monday Dec. 7; see detour map

Ongoing Work

  • Brighton Boulevard
    • Under I-70 one lane in each direction
  • York Street CLOSED for a half block north of 46th Avenue until spring 2021
    • York Street between 46th and 47th avenues closed; no vehicular access or on-street parking through Nov. 25
  • Steele Street on-ramp to westbound I-70 closed through summer 2021
  • Stapleton North and South Drive reduced to one lane for interstate widening

Construction activities will be happening day and night. Activities that occur overnight will be within the noise variance limits of 75-decibel hourly average with an allowable spike up to 86 decibels. To make a complaint about construction noise or vibration during the night, call the 24-hour hotline at 833-C70-INFO (833-270-4636). DDPHE regulates the noise variance and residents may also call the city at 3-1-1. There is additional information about the variance here


Nighttime general construction the week of Nov. 22 and 29, 2020, will occur at the following locations:

  • Brighton Boulevard and I-70 interchange
  • 46th Avenue and Union Pacific Railroad crossing
  • I-70 and 46th Avenue between York Street and Colorado Boulevard
  • Colorado Boulevard between 44th and 48th avenues
  • I-70 between Colorado Boulevard and Quebec Street
  • Stapleton Drive (north and south) between Colorado Boulevard and Quebec Street
  • I-70 between Quebec Street and I-225 interchange

Construction activities are weather and site-condition dependent, and schedules are subject to change.

I-70

  • Description: Eastbound and westbound I-70 – Lane restrictions between I-25 and Colorado Boulevard (including off-and on-ramps)
