Region 2 Bridge Project | Design Phase

About the Project

CDOT will replace 17 rural bridges across key highway corridors in Region 2, and is soliciting Letters of Interest from companies or teams interested in providing Design-Build Services for the project. The 17 rural bridges that comprise the project are on essential highway corridors in southeastern and central Colorado.

The key corridors (US 350, US 24, CO 239 and CO 9) provide rural
mobility, intra- and interstate commerce, movement of agricultural products and supplies, and access to tourist destinations. The design-build budget for the project is estimated to be in the range of $35 to $45 million.

CDOT has determined that design-build delivery provides the best opportunity to complete the
design and construction of the project. The goals for the project are:

  1. Maximize project scope and improvements within the project budget and schedule.
  2. Minimize project delivery time. This includes acceleration of the project to ensure obligation
and completion dates meet or beat the statutory requirements.
  3. Minimize impacts and inconveniences to the traveling public during construction.
  4. Provide design and construction strategies that maximize structure service life.

A Request for Qualifications will only be sent to those companies or teams submitting a Statement of
Interest containing the information required below. After evaluation of the Statement of Qualifications from prospective design-build teams, CDOT will establish a short list of eligible teams. A Request for Proposals (RFP) will be sent to those teams, and submittals will be evaluated using best-value criteria. The RFP will include a conceptual design and will encourage innovation from the private sector to maximize the project scope delivered.
