On April 30, 2018, crews began repairing and resurfacing more than 12 miles of US 40, from the east end of Steamboat Springs to the summit of Rabbit Ears Pass, in Routt County.

Other work includes replacing a drainage culvert east of the summit (at mile point 151.92).
