US 50 Purcell Interchange

Work this Week

June 12 - 16, 2021

  • On the morning of Thursday, June 16, travelers will encounter a new traffic pattern on westbound US 50 near the intersection of Pueblo Boulevard. Single lane closures will take place overnight, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to set the new traffic pattern. The new traffic pattern moves motorist out of the right lane.  The right lane will be closed immediately following the CO 45 off-ramp and to the east of the US 50 and CO 45 intersection - allowing room for crews to work on the next phase of the project. This work includes the enhancement of drainage operations and adjustments to the grade of the highway. The right lane closure will remain in place through the end of the year.

  • Crews will work overnight on Wednesday night to set the new traffic pattern in place. Motorists are advised to expect minor delays during the overnight work on US 50.  Please plan for additional travel time.

About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin construction July 28 on the new interchange at US Highway 50 and Purcell Boulevard in Pueblo West. The first phase of the project is lengthening the third westbound travel lane of US 50 between Pueblo Blvd. and Purcell Blvd. Additional improvements such as sidewalks, curbs and gutter are part of the project design.

These improvements will significantly increase safety on a roadway that carries a high volume of traffic, reduce commuting times for area residents, and allow pedestrians to safely navigate the intersection.
