About the Project:

U.S. Highway 85 south of Platteville will be repaired and resurfaced starting in spring 2021. Over four miles of northbound and southbound US 85 (Mile Points 246 – 250.5) will receive a new asphalt surface. This project will also improve water conveyance facilities south of Weld County Road 26, upgrade guardrail, replace bridge railing over Platte Valley Canal, and install new safety enhancements (rumble strips and roadside delineators).

Work Schedule

The contractor will perform most of the work from May to November 2021.

  • Work hours are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Crews will begin asphalt milling and paving operations on northbound US 85 in early May.
  • All work is weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change

Traffic Impacts

US 85 will remain open during construction.

  • Expect various mobile construction operations within the work zone
  • Lane closures and flaggers will be utilized for work activites
  • Traffic will be held at intersections and driveways while equipment passes through to ensure product quality and safe operations
  • Temporary rough riding surfaces may be present until paving is finished
  • Speed limit reductions and width restrictions will be in place as needed
