Wadsworth Boulevard Resurfacing from 65th to 90th Avenue Design

About the Study

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is proposing to resurface Wadsworth Boulevard from West 65th to West 90th Avenues. The project is on CDOT’s 5-Year Plan and is currently in the early design phase and evaluating environmental impacts.

Other improvements include:

• Upgrading curb ramps to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards
• Traffic signal replacement at the intersection of West 68th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard

The improvements at the Wadsworth Boulevard and West 68th Avenue intersection will require that easements and a partial right-of-way parcel be acquired from the Arvada Center for Arts and Humanities Sculpture Field property for construction and future maintenance of the signal equipment. Impact areas total approximately 430 square feet at the corner adjacent to sidewalk and roadway. Access to the property would not be affected during construction and all disturbance areas would be restored.

The Arvada Center for Arts and Humanities Sculpture Field is a significant recreation property. The project was awarded federal transportation funding and therefore Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Act applies which protects publicly owned parks, recreation properties, wildlife and waterfowl refuges, and public or private historic sites. The public is afforded an opportunity to comment on these impacts, which are determined to not adversely affect the activities, features and attributes that qualify the property for Section 4(f) protection (“de minimis use”).
