World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on Nov. 21

Traffic Safety Pulse News

The City of Denver will observe Nov. 21 as the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, an international event started in 2005 to honor the 1.35 million people killed annually on the world’s roads and inspire organizing for change to prevent such tragedies.

The event will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021, 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., at the Pedestrian Bridge at Denver Wastewater Management Building (2000 W 3rd Ave, Denver, CO 80223).

The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDR) is commemorated on the third Sunday of November each year. It is a high-profile global event to remember the many millions who have been killed and seriously injured on the world’s roads and to acknowledge the suffering of all affected victims, families and communities – millions added each year to countless millions already suffering: a truly tremendous cumulative toll.

In addition to the Denver event, the City of Boulder has partnered with nonprofit It Could Be Me to host a memorial walk for road traffic victims on Nov. 21 on the Pearl Street Mall. The City of Boulder has experienced several traffic crash-related fatalities and serious injuries this year. These crashes affect everyone - people walking, people cycling and people driving - as well as the friends and family members of the victims.
