The Nothing Uglier Than a DUI Ugly Sweater Campaign event, 3 staffers stand around the campaign banner

From Dec. 1 to Jan. 3, CDOT partnered with Lyft and Responsibility.org to provide free Lyft ride credits to reduce impaired driving and save lives statewide through its “Nothing Uglier than a DUI” campaign. The effort to curb impaired driving during the holiday season concluded with 728 Lyft rides taken with over $7,000 in funds used for getting Coloradans home safely. 

CDOT hosted a pop-up event for the campaign on Dec. 16 at the Miracle at Union Station cocktail bar, where they engaged with Coloradans and handed out 150 Lyft ride credits. 

The New Year’s Eve DUI enforcement period concluded with 143 arrests across 77 participating agencies, bringing the total number of reported arrests during 2022 enforcement periods to 4,507. The agencies with the highest number of arrests were the Colorado State Patrol (32) and Colorado Springs Police Department (23). The Winter Blitz enforcement began Jan. 12 and will run through Jan. 25, with the Superbowl Weekend enforcement following from Feb. 9-14.
