Colorado State Patrol Offers Distracted Driving Education

Colorado State Patrol (CSP) has implemented a comprehensive Distracted Driving program that includes enforcement and education. CSP holds two statewide, weekend enforcement waves during the year, one in April for Distracted Driving Month and one in the summer. Troops also provide extra enforcement based upon the needs of the communities they serve. This year, extra troopers were on the road during the solar eclipse on Aug. 21.

From Oct. 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017, CSP reached more than 6,500 people through Distracted Driving education trainings. Education is based on local needs, including pre-prom events, safety fairs and sporting events. CSP uses simulators to give participants a hands-on experience of various driver distractions and the subsequent consequences.
