Project First on Construction Projects
Project First is CDOT’s partnering program to manage project risks and foster collaboration and communication on the project. This website includes information, resources, example tools, and list of third-party facilitators that can be used to implement the program on construction projects.
The content contained in this agenda is the recommended items to review during the Project First Initial Workshop. It is best practice to create a customized agenda based on the unique risk elements of the project. This agenda can be customized and used as a template for the Follow-Up and Closeout Workshops. Requirements for the Initial, Follow-Up, and Closeout Workshops are outlined in Section 105.10 of the Standard Specifications or Special Provision located in the Contract.
The Project First Tools included in this spreadsheet are example templates that can be used to implement the Project First specification on construction projects and include the (1) Project Risk Assessment Tool Template - In accordance with the new "Project First" initiative, please use this example Excel file to develop your project specific Project Risk Assessment Tool. (2) Escalation Ladder Template - This Project First Escalation Ladder spreadsheet shall be used for matters related to working in bad faith, incompetence, etc. It is not to be used for issues and disputes per Construction Specifications 105.22 and 105.23. (3) Other means of documentation and implementation of Project First is acceptable and up to the Project Team.
