Project Information

The I-70B 1st Street and Grand Avenue Improvements Project is scheduled to begin work in May 2021. The project area includes the I-70 Business Loop (I-70B) from Mulberry Street to Rood Avenue, and Colorado Highway 340 (Broadway) from Mulberry Street/Rice Street to 2nd Street. The project will improve the 5-way intersection. United Companies, based in Grand Junction, is the contractor selected to build the project.

The project will improve the infrastructure by widening the roadway, consolidating access, improving street connections and constructing improved bike and pedestrian connections. The work includes: replacing storm drains and water lines, milling, paving, concrete improvements (sidewalks, ADA curb ramps), replacement of signals, as well as lighting and landscaping enhancements. Once complete the project will improve safety, congestion, and increase multimodal opportunities.
