CO 7 (Arapahoe Avenue) and 38th Street intersection closure in Boulder July 25 to 28
Travel Advisory
Boulder County — Beginning Friday, July 25, at 5 p.m. through Monday, July 28, at 5 a.m., the north intersection of Colorado Highway 7 and 38th Street will be closed for milling and paving operations. A detour will be in place to maintain access to 38th Street.
Work on this project is scheduled for completion in late December 2025.
Crews will perform reclamation work, removing the existing asphalt and reconditioning base materials to create a stronger foundation, followed by a new asphalt overlay to improve smoothness and safety for drivers. This work is part of an ongoing project to improve roadway conditions and extend pavement life.
Traffic Impacts
- Friday, July 25, at 5 p.m. through Monday, July 28, at 5 a.m., the north intersection of CO 7 and 38th Street will be closed over the weekend
- Detour from 38th Street
- Travel north on Exposition Drive, north on 38th Street, west on Walnut Street and south on 33rd Street to reconnect with CO 7
- Detour from CO 7 and 38th Street
- Travel west on CO 7, north on 33rd Street and east on Walnut Street
- Motorists should follow posted detour signs
- Business access will remain open
- The speed limit will be reduced to 35 MPH throughout the work zone
- Please be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the work area

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
