Motorists traveling CO 145 between Telluride and Rico can expect brief delays next week

July 18, 2025 - Southwestern Colorado - Plan for one-way alternating traffic while crews perform culvert replacements on July 21 and 22

San Miguel County — The Colorado Department of Transportation will perform two-day culvert replacement operations on Colorado Highway 145, approximately 14 miles south of Telluride (Mile Point 58). Beginning July 21, motorists can expect full stops, alternating traffic and up to 15-minute delays. The delays will occur during daytime working hours, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.. CDOT urges motorists to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time on CO 145 between Dolores and Telluride.

CDOT crews will work as swiftly as possible to complete the culvert replacement however, operations are weather dependent.

Traffic Impacts

Work will take place July 21 and 22, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic impacts include:

  • One-way alternating traffic guided by flaggers
  • Full stops in both directions and up to 15-minute delays during daytime working hours
  • Slow down and watch for workers and heavy equipment

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
