Overnight Clear Creek Canyon (US 6) closures in July starting tonight

Clear Creek Canyon - The Colorado Department of Transportation will perform required tunnel inspections along Clear Creek Canyon (US 6). The inspections will require overnight closures of US 6 for five nights in July.
Closure schedule:
- US 6 in both directions is scheduled to close between CO 119 and I-70 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Wednesday, July 9 and Thursday, July 10.
- US 6 in both directions is scheduled to close between CO 58 in Golden to CO 119 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, July 21, Tuesday, July 22 and Wednesday, July 23.
Motorists can use I-70 as a detour route.
Closure schedules could change depending on the weather and other factors. Check COtrip.org for the latest information on road closures.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution at all times, give plenty of following distance, watch for crews and heed the speed limit.

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.
- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
