CDOT to repair US 160 guardrails east of Cortez, Tuesday, July 29
Travel Advisory
Montezuma County — On Tuesday, July 29, the Colorado Department of Transportation will repair multiple sections of damaged guardrail along US Highway 160 just east of Cortez (Mile Points 40 to 44). Motorists can expect up to 15-minute delays and alternating traffic between 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. between Cortez and Mancos. Crews will work swiftly to complete operations; however, work is weather permitting.
Motorists are urged to slow down and use extreme caution when approaching and driving through the work zone.
Traffic Impacts:
On Tuesday, July 29, daytime work hours range from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Traffic impacts include:
- Motorists should plan for 10 to 15 minute delays and should allow for extra travel time
- Expect one-lane alternating traffic guided by signs, cones and flagging personnel
- Speeds will be reduced to 40 MPH

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
