Travel Advisory

July 9, 2025 - Central Colorado - Closures are needed because of tunnel inspections

Colorado Springs — The Colorado Department of Transportation will close the eastbound East Platte Avenue on-ramp to southbound Powers Boulevard for continued work on the CO 21 (Powers Boulevard) and Airport Road Interchange Project this weekend.

From 7 p.m. on Friday, July 25 to 4 a.m. on Monday, July 28, the eastbound East Platte Avenue on-ramp to southbound Powers Boulevard will close for concrete paving. This full closure is needed for worker and traveler safety.

The signed detour route will direct eastbound drivers to turn right (south) on Troy Hill Road, continue south for approximately one mile, and turn left (east) onto Airport Road to access Powers Boulevard. A temporary all-way stop is in place at the Troy Hill Road / Airport Road intersection.

The westbound East Platte Avenue on-ramp to southbound Powers Boulevard is not impacted by this work and will remain open.

This schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change. Message boards near the project site will provide the latest schedule information. The ramp closure will be removed from the highway in time for the Monday morning commute.
