Concrete panel preventive maintenance on CO 115 to begin April 6

April 2, 2026 - Southeastern Colorado - Motorists will encounter single lane head-to-head traffic in Penrose

Fremont County — The Colorado Department of Transportation, in partnership with Acme Concrete Paving, will begin work on Colorado Highway 115 near Penrose starting Monday, April 6. The work will take place between Mile Point 14 and MP 19.

The project will consist of the replacement of full and partial concrete pavement roadway panels. This maintenance project also involves comprehensive concrete repairs, including fixing localized surface damage, crack sealing, placing steel reinforcement to keep concrete from moving, diamond grinding to create a smoother road surface, guardrail replacement and striping.

This project will benefit the public by adding years of life to the highway, providing a smoother road surface and adding durability by increasing the resistance of ruts and road damage.

Work is expected to be complete in the Fall of 2026.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists will encounter roadwork on CO 115 in Penrose. Traffic impacts include:

  • Working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • For the first part of the project, traffic will be directed into the southbound lane where there will be a single lane head-to-head traffic configuration.
  • Speeds will be reduced through the work zone.

  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
