Updated CDOT Hazardous Materials Guidance
The CDOT Hazardous Materials Guidance has been updated!
The Guidance has not been updated since 2018 and has several changes. They include:
- Referencing the updated ASTM 1527 and 1528 standards.
- Development of a "Hazardous Materials Assessment Decision Tree" (Figure 4.1).
- Development of a "Heavy Metal-Based Paint Flowchart (Figure 4.9).
- Adding a section requiring Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) to be evaluated (Section 4.9.7).
- ----->> ADOPTING the 40 CFR 312.10 "Environmental Professional" REQUIREMENT! <<----- (Section 7)
- The All Appropriate Inquiry (AAI) Environmental Professional (EP) qualifications will apply to all CDOT hazardous material assessments. This ensures that CDOT practitioners are qualified individuals completing analysis and providing recommendations, recognizing the current ASTM practice, and are familiar with ASTM updates, especially regarding new and emerging concerns.
