Roadway & Bridge Repairs on US Highway 34D (Business Route) in Greeley

Where: From US 34D to 24th Street

  • Local access to pastures will be allowed with coordination.
  • Roadway work will be taking place simultaneously.
  • The bridge will not be accessible.

Why: Rehabilitating the South Platte River Bridge, including:

  • removing asphalt
  • demolishing the bridge deck to remove bad concrete
  • repairing and replacing joints and bridge rail
  • paving and laying concrete
  • paving the roadway

  • Location: Along US 34D (Business Route) and 18th Street, from mile point (MP) 11.65 to MP 13.62, and from MP 14.09 to MP 14.50
  • Timeline: March through December 2018

On March 5, 2018, crews began making improvements on US Highway 34D (Business Route) to address roadway, shoulder and bridge repairs following the September 2013 floods. Work brought various curb ramps up to current Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

Primary Goals

  • Resurfaced the roadway and improve shoulders from CO Highway 85 along E. 18th Street to the diagonal where US 34D and US 34 meet—approximately three miles of surface.
  • Repaired a bridge where US 34D crosses the South Platte River.


  • Hours: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • This project was completed in late December
