US 85 & US 34 Interchange Improvements
About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation and contracting partner, Jalisco International, Inc., have completed improvements at the interchange of US Highway 85 and US Highway 34 in Greeley near Garden City. Commonly known as "Spaghetti Junction," the interchange now features upgrades designed to enhance mobility, improve roadway visibility, and reduce the risk of crashes.
The project focused on increasing safety and driver confidence with several improvements, including the installation of new guardrails, upgraded signage, and refreshed roadway striping throughout the interchange. These enhancements improve lane recognition and help prevent vehicles from unintentionally leaving the roadway.
In addition, many of the outdated sign structures have been replaced to meet current highway standards, making it easier for drivers to navigate the area safely and efficiently.
Another key feature of the project is the widening of roadway shoulders. This improvement provides greater space for vehicles, particularly on narrower segments of the corridor, enhancing overall safety and improving traffic flow.
