CO 115 Improvements - Colorado Springs to Penrose
Work this Week
March 20 - 25, 2023Anticipated traffic impacts for the week of 3/20/2023 include:
- CO 115 is reduced to one lane in each direction from Roca Roja Circle (mile point 35.5) to Rock Creek Canyon Road/Wilderness Road (MP 39)
- 24/7 shoulder closures (MP 35.5 to 39.0)
- 24/7 shoulder closures (MP 27.5 to 32.5)
- Mobile operation project-wide for lane striping
- Shift traffic to the west onto detour pavement between MP 27.5 and 32.5 on or after Wednesday, March 22
- Reduced work zone speed limit of 45 mph
- Oversize vehicle width restriction of 11 feet
Construction activities include:
- Continue concrete paving at the north end of the work zone (MP 35.5 to 39.0)
- Place temporary asphalt pavement adjacent to southbound CO 115 at the south end of the work zone (MP 27.5 to 32.5)
- Lane striping project-wide
- Prepare for asphalt resurfacing between MP 27.5 and 32.5
All work is weather-dependent, and the schedule is subject to change.
About the Project:
CDOT is constructing a major improvement project on Colorado Highway 115. The project improves roadway and bridge safety on CO 115 from mile point (MP) 27.7 to MP 39 by adding passing lanes, right turn lanes, reconstructing Rock Creek Bridge, and performing major rehabilitation or reconstruction of cracked and distressed pavement

Work Schedule:
- Phased construction from July 2022 - December 2023
- Crews will primarily work during daylight hours Monday through Friday.
- Night and weekend work are anticipated for several work activities to expedite construction and reduce traffic impacts.

- The initial phase of construction will focus on the northern three miles of the work zone (MP 35.5 – MP 39).
