Anticipated traffic impacts for the week of 8/15/2022 include:

  • Daytime single lane closures and traffic shifts at Rock Creek CanyonRoad/Wilderness Road intersection, Wednesday through Friday (MP 39.0) for traffic signal work
  • Overnight lane closures and mobile striping operation near Rock Creek Canyon Road/Wilderness Road intersection, from 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17 to 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 - some delay is expected
  • Intermittent flagging, Monday through Friday (MP 35.5 to 39.0) - follow crew instructions
  • 24/7 shoulder closures (MP 35.5 to 39.0)
  • CO 115 is reduced to one lane in each direction from Roca Roja Circle (mile point 35.5) and Rock Creek Canyon Road/ Wilderness Road (MP 39.0)
  • Reduced work zone speed limit of 45 mph
  • Oversize vehicle width restriction of 11 feet

Construction activities include:

  • Clearing and grading activity
  • Surveying and locating utilities
  • Stockpiling material
  • Preparing subgrade
  • Adjusting traffic signal equipment at Rock Creek Canyon Road / Wilderness Road intersection
  • Shifting traffic overnight Wednesday at the far north end of the work zone - turn lanes at the Rock Creek Canyon Road / Wilderness Road intersection will be provided

About the Project:

CDOT is constructing a major improvement project on Colorado Highway 115. The project improves roadway and bridge safety on CO 115 from mile point (MP) 27.7 to MP 39 by adding passing lanes, right turn lanes, reconstructing Rock Creek Bridge, and performing major rehabilitation or reconstruction of cracked and distressed pavement

Work Schedule:

  • Phased construction from July 2022 - December 2023
  • Crews will primarily work during daylight hours Monday through Friday.
  • Night and weekend work are anticipated for several work activities to expedite construction and reduce traffic impacts.

Traffic Impacts:

  • -Initial construction activities require shoulder closures between Roca Roja Circle (mile point 35.5) to Rock Creek Canyon Road (MP 39).
  • Crews are preparing for a major traffic pattern change, which will reduce approximately three miles of CO 115 to one lane in each direction, in early August.
  • The initial phase of construction will focus on the northern three miles of the work zone (MP 35.5 – MP 39).
