CO 59 Resurfacing in Kit Carson
About the Project
Work will take place along CO Highway 59, in the town of Kit Carson, heading north to Seibert (Mile Point 0.05 to MP 9).
Work will primarily consist of the following:
- Milling the existing roadway
- Adding three inches of hot mix asphalt overlay
- Striping
Work will be done in both the northbound and southbound lanes for a nine-mile stretch of CO 59 north of US 287.

Project Benefits

Work Schedule
- Work will last approximately three months
- Working hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday
Traffic Impacts
Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:
- Vehicles will be reduced to a single-lane, alternating traffic intermittently in either direction, throughout the duration of the project
- Lane closures, guided by flaggers, will have up to 10-minute delays
- The speed limit will be reduced to 35 MPH through the work zone
- There will be an 11-foot lane-width
