CO 66 Culverts West of Platteville

Project Completed

There are three CDOT projects on CO 66 between Mead and Platteville this construction season. Project teams are coordinating schedules and traffic control. Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes, use extra caution in the work zones, and follow all signs and markings.

About the Project:

The Colorado Department of Transportation will replace two culverts underneath CO 66 and improve the end sections of a third culvert. All three culverts are approximately one mile west of the Town of Platteville. Other work includes slope grading and asphalt paving in the immediate area of the two culverts that are replaced.

These improvements will benefit the public by:

  • Increasing the longevity of the highway

Work Schedule:

  • Daylight working hours, Monday - Friday
  • Several overnight full closures of CO 66 are expected
  • Weekend work is possible for some construction operations

Traffic Impacts:

Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:

  • Travelers should expect intermittent lane closures, traffic shifts and alternating traffic
  • Flaggers may be present, be prepared to stop
  • Several overnight full closures of CO 66 are expected
  • Detour routes will be signed if temporary road closures are necessary
  • Speed limit reductions and width restrictions will be in place as needed
  • Watch for vehicles entering and exiting the work zone
