CO 72 Chip Seal from James Creek to CO 7

About the Project:

A chip seal is a two-step process that includes first an application of asphalt emulsion and then a layer of crushed rock to an existing asphalt pavement surface. Work will take place along CO 72 from James Creek to CO Highway 7, Mile Point 45.3 to MP 54. Work will primarily consist of applying a tack coat, chips, and a fog coat to the full width of the existing roadway and shoulders.

Project Benefits

  • The project will improve and enhance safety by providing good skid resistance.
  • A smooth road or highway has many important benefits including safety and improved quality for the driving experience.
  • Chip seals prevent deterioration of the asphalt surface from the effects of aging and oxidation due to water and sun.
