CO 7 Bike Lane Shoulder Widening
About the Project
Work is set to begin on a widening project to add a bike lane to each side of CO 7 (East Baseline Road) just east of Flagg Drive in Lafayette. Work will be completed on both the eastbound and westbound lanes throughout this half-mile stretch of the road between Mile Points 64.25 and 64.74.
Project Facts
- Construction Cost: $4.1 Million
- Contractor: Jalisco International
- Timeline: Late February 2025 to end of 2025
- Location: CO 7
- Nearest Towns/Cities: Lafayette and Erie
- Mile Point(s): MP 64.25 to MP 64.74
- Counties: Boulder, Broomfield and Weld
Project Benefits
This project will greatly improve safety for both motorists and bicyclists on the road as a bike lane will create greater distance between the two road users.
Work Schedule
- Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Traffic Impacts
Beginning in late August, the bike trail just east of Coal Creek will be temporarily realigned to excavate the east side of the detention basin. Bicyclists should proceed with caution and follow all detour signage in the area.
Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:
- Single lane closures include:
- Weekdays: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Weekends: 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
- A barrier will separate the work area from traffic reducing impacts on travel
- Work such as temporary striping, permanent striping and setting/picking up concrete barriers will create infrequent lane closures at night
- The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph through the work zone
