CO 83 Americans with Disabilities Act Curb Ramp Upgrades
About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation and prime contractor, Chatos Concrete, will begin an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb ramp improvement project along Colorado Highway 83 in Denver and Arapahoe Counties. Work will take place at over 25 intersection locations between East Florida Avenue and East Quincy Avenue (Mile Point 74 to MP 68.8).
The project will consist of:
- Removing and replacing concrete sidewalk and curb ramps at intersection locations throughout the project corridor
- Focusing on over 100 ramps that require upgrades to meet ADA standards
- Minor signage and striping work
- Push button enhancements

Work Schedule
- General working hours will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Additional nighttime and weekend work may be required intermittently throughout the project
- Construction is anticipated to take place from April 2026 to late June 2026
Traffic Impacts
Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:
- Single-lane and shoulder closures in each direction throughout the project corridor
- Closures will be concentrated to areas surrounding intersections
- Minor travel impacts on the east- and westbound roads within the work zone that intersect with CO 83
- Intermittent partial closures on the on- and off-ramps at CO 83 and I-225
- Full ramp closures are not anticipated
- If required they will take place during nighttime hours only with detour routes
- Sidewalks and crosswalk access will remain open for the duration of the project
- Partial closures will be marked with signage.
