I-25 Walsenburg Bridge Replacement

About the Project:

State and federally funded infrastructure upgrade project designed to improve the safety of two bridges to support increased traffic on the I-25 corridor.

Built in the 1960s, the structures cross over Colorado Highway 10 and the BNSF Railroad. Due to its age, heavy usage and seasonal weather, the southbound bridge has reached the end of its lifespan and will be removed and replaced. To achieve this, the northbound bridge’s deck will be rehabilitated, and median crossovers built to route traffic.

Other planned work includes widening and improving the on and off ramps, relocating a sanitary sewer line, and adding guardrail, signs, and safety features.
