Temporary Barrier on I-270
About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation and Kiewit Corporation are enhancing safety and providing support to the I-270 Critical Bridges between Mile Point 0 and 3 near Commerce City. The project involves placing eight runs of temporary barrier to protect the overhangs and enhance the shoulder's safety on bridge decks over South Platte, Burlington Ditch, Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF).
This work is a necessary, short-term measure to maintain the safety of the corridor until the full replacement of the bridges can occur in 2027. The work is scheduled to take place from Oct. 19 to mid December 2025.
