I-70 Bridge Repairs at Kipling & Garrison
About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contracting partner, Myers and Sons Construction will repair three bridges on Interstate 70, including the eastbound and westbound bridges over Kipling Street and the westbound bridge over Garrison Street. The anticipated project completion is late October.
Work on the Kipling Street bridges will include hydro-demolition, a process that uses high-pressure water to remove damaged concrete and prepare the bridge decks for repairs. Traditional bridge rehabilitation work will be completed on the westbound bridge over Garrison Street to repair the aging structure and extend its service life.
The project also includes widening and pavement improvements on the Kipling Street on- and off-ramps to support temporary traffic configurations during construction.
To safely complete bridge repairs, CDOT will implement three extended weekend closures of I-70, each lasting up to 84 hours. During the closures, interstate traffic will be diverted through the Kipling Street interchange using the on- and off-ramps before returning to I-70. Motorists should expect significant delays and are encouraged to plan ahead or use alternate routes.
