I-70 Mountain Corridor CSS Guidance
The I-70 Mountain Corridor Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) Guidance is the result of stakeholders’ passion and the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) commitment to build world-class improvements throughout Colorado’s Interstate 70 (I-70) Mountain Corridor.
Stakeholders from the mountain communities, business owners, and federal and state agencies have come together to ensure that all future transportation improvements enhance the corridor.
By including the CSS Guidance in the Record of Decision for the 2004 Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (DPEIS) for the I-70 Mountain Corridor, CDOT, in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), has committed to this guidance as the basis for all future planning, designing, and building in the corridor.
The guidance contained in this Web site includes the Context Statement, the Core Values, a Decision-Making Process, stakeholder comments, background information, maps, plans and legal commitments and other tools to implement CSS throughout the corridor. By understanding the Context Statement and Core Values, and by applying the 6-Step Process to your project, you can implement CSS.
Use the CSS Guidance to understand what must be honored on the I-70 Mountain Corridor, and follow the Decision-Making Process for your decisions and choices. Together we will leave a legacy of breathtaking solutions.
