Lamar Traffic Signal Replacement
About the Project
A traffic signal replacement project will occur along US Highway 50 and US 287 in Lamar. Traffic signal replacement work will take place on a two-mile stretch of highway from Maple Street to Savage Avenue, mile point 435.1 on US 50 to MP 76.5 on US 287.
The project will begin with test hole explorations and inspection of the existing conduit in June with signal replacement starting in September.
The project will upgrade the signals at three intersections in Lamar. The focus of the project is at the intersections of Main Street (US 50) and Maple Street, Main Street (US 287) and Cedar Street, and Main Street (US 287) and Savage Avenue.
The work includes replacement of the existing signal equipment, some minor Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) adjustments and the replacement of existing pavement markings.

Traffic Impacts
Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:
- Vehicles will be reduced to a single lane, alternating traffic intermittently in either direction throughout the duration of the project
