Powhaton Bridge Rehabilitation
About the Project
The Colorado Department of Transportation is rehabilitating the Powhaton Bridge over I-70 in Aurora. The bridge will be completely closed to all traffic for a month from late May to late June of 2025.
The bridge structure is being rehabilitated, which involves the following:
- Removing the old, damaged pavement Repairing the bridge deck
- Installing a waterproofing membrane, which prevents water from seeping in the pavement and structure
- Repaving the bridge surface

- Timeline: May 27, 2025 to July 17, 2025 (the project was scheduled for completion by late June, but has been rescheduled to complete in mid-July due to additional time needed for removal of the old surface)

Traffic Impacts
Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:
- The Powhaton Bridge over I-70 will be completely closed from May 27 to July 17, 2025, with a planned re-opening on July 18.
- This closure is necessary for the extensive repairs required and the safety of the crews and motorists.
- Detour: East 26th Avenue to Hudson Road to East Colfax Avenue/I-70 Frontage Road
