About the Project

This project will improve safety and rehabilitate Colorado’s iconic historic structure F-11-T located on US-24 MP 153.4, just outside of Red Cliff Colorado in Eagle County. 

Design is anticipated to start by March 2026, with construction to start in 2028. There is potential to release an early construction package to remove load posting prior to the year 2028.

Schedule & Important Dates

  • Winter 2026: Advertise Request for Letters of Interest (LOI) then proceed with one-on-one meetings and the Request for Proposals (RFP)
  • Design Start Date: March 2026
  • Construction Start Date: 2028

The Red Cliff Bridge, a historic steel arch bridge built in 1941, spans more than 470 feet enabling traffic on US 24 to traverse the 200-foot deep gorge where the Eagle River flows.

The goals of this project is to rehabilitate the structure, so the National Bridge Inspections (NBI) rating status is no longer Poor.

Completing the project will provide the following benefits:

  • Removal of all load postings and vehicle restrictions
  • Extension of the bridge’s service life by 30 years
  • Preservation of the structure’s historical significance
  • Improved safety for the traveling public
