Timber Bridges Repairs in Southwest Colorado
About the Project
This is a timber beam bridge repair project that will take place in three different Southwestern Colorado locations. Each location has a bridge repair that will be its own construction zone under the same project. At all locations the timber bridges will be retrofitted with steel beams to reinforce the existing timber girders.
- Ouray County on US 550, between Ouray and Ridgway, over Cutler Creek at MP 98.3
- Saguache County on US 50, near the community of Sargents, over Brush Creek at MP 189.7
- Conejos County, near the community of La Jara, on CO 15 over LaJara Creek at MP 30

Project Benefits
Retro-fitting steel beams to reinforce the existing timber girders will strengthen and increase the longevity of the structure as well as ensure safety of the traveling public.
Work Schedule
- This project is scheduled to begin Sept. 8, 2025
- Completion is expected by Nov. 14th, 2025
- Normal working hours will be Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Work will be completed at one work site before work begins at the next site
- The bridge in Ouray County is tentatively scheduled to begin Sept.8, 2025 and be complete in late September 2025
- The bridge in Saguache is tentatively scheduled to begin in late September 2025 and be complete in late October 2025
- The bridge in Conejos County is tentatively scheduled to begin in late October 2025 and be complete by mid November 2025
Traffic Impacts
Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:
- Temporary detours and traffic signals while work is in progress at each site
- The speed limit will be reduced to 40 MPH through the work zones
