About the Project

Improvements will take place along US 24 south of Minturn to Leadville near Mountain View Drive, Mile Point 148 to MP 175.

Work will include:

  • Chain station improvements
  • 13 culvert repairs
  • Wall repairs
  • Guardrail replacement

Roadway resurfacing will take place north of Leadville near Tennessee Pass Road/Cooper Loop to Mountain View Road, from MP 166 to MP 175.

Project Benefits

  • Enhance safety, improve drainage and provide a smoother, more reliable driving experience for motorists
  • Other benefits of the project include:
    • Installation of new guardrail that will be 31 inches high, designed to meet new safety standard requirements
    • Higher railing will help veering vehicles remain on the road more effectively, making the highway safer for the traveling public

Work Schedule

  • Daytime work hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:

  • One-lane alternating traffic
  • Up to 20-minute delays
  • 11-foot width restriction
