US 287 Safety Improvements from Ted's Place to the Wyoming Border | Construction Phase
About the Project
The purpose of this project is to improve safety on US 287 between Ted’s Place and the Wyoming border, with a focus on reducing severe injuries and fatal accidents. This will be accomplished by:
- Implementing geometric improvements at intersections with crash histories
- Allowing safe passing areas to discourage passing in opposing lanes
- Providing additional shoulders to allow safe speed limit enforcement and keep stalled vehicles out of through lanes
- Providing milder side slopes to prevent rollovers
- Incorporating wildlife management measures to reduce wildlife/vehicle conflicts
- Evaluating the need for ITS, lighting and/or other non-roadway elements
- Fulfilling additional obligations agreed to under the INFRA grant
The project will also include resurfacing to improve surface condition and extend the functional life of the highway.
