US 40 Winter Park Resurfacing
About the Project
The project will improve approximately three miles of US 40 from mile point 229, Vasquez Road, to MP 234, Winter Park Drive.
Work will include:
- Milling old asphalt
- Paving with new asphalt
- Guardrail replacement
- Removal and installation of the Americans with Disabilities Act ramps on US 40 at the following locations:
- Blaze Resorts
- Village Drive
- Old Town Drive
- Winter Park Drive
Additional work will consist of bridge joint repairs on US 40 at MP 224, in the community of Tabernash.

Project Benefits
- The new asphalt will provide benefits, including:
- Adding years of life to the highway, provide a smoother road surface
- Improving durability by increasing the resistance of ruts and road damage
- The new guardrail will be 31 inches high
- Designed to meet new safety standard requirements
- The higher railing will help veering vehicles remain on the road more effectively, making the highway safer for the traveling public
- Other benefits of the project include:
- Installation of five ADA compliant curb ramps at three locations
- The new ramps will be constructed in compliance with the Public Right of Way Accessibility Guidelines requirements
- Providing functional accessibility for our multi-modal users.
Work Schedule
Different from the traffic impacts, this should be the general working hours and schedule of the project. Example:
- Daytime hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (MP 229 to MP 234)
- Mid June to Mid July, Monday through Thursday 24-hours per day (MP 223 to MP 225)
Traffic Impacts
Motorists can expect the following impacts during the period of construction:
- Daytime impacts from MP 229 to MP 234
- Lane closures
- A speed reduction to 40 MPH
- Impacts Mid-June to Mid-July from MP 223 to MP 225
- One-lane alternating traffic, up to 20-minute delays
- 12 feet width restriction
