US 50 Surface Improvements in Bent County

About the Project:

This project is located in Southeastern Colorado in Bent County. Project work consists of US 50 surface treatment, ADA ramp replacement and drainage improvements from Mile Point 397 to 399.78.

Project Benefits

• Work on the project includes surface treatment, Americans with Disabilities Act ramp replacements and drainage improvements.
• Once complete, the project will improve drivability for motorists and provide safer conditions for pedestrians and individuals using wheelchairs.

Work Schedule:

• Work on US 50 in Las Animas begins on Monday, March 18, 2024.
• Travelers can expect lane and shoulder closures, as well as full road closures in May.
• The project is scheduled for completion in early 2025.

Traffic Impacts:

Motorists and area residents can expect the following impacts during construction:

• Work will occur during daytime hours, Monday through Friday
• Single lane closures, double lane closures, and shoulder closures will take place within the work zone
• Full road closure expected in May
• Reduced speeds in the work zone
• Plan ahead and expect short delays
• Construction schedules are weather dependent
• The project is scheduled for completion in early 2025
