US 50B & US 50C Corridor Safety | Study Phase

About the Study

CDOT is conducting a Corridor Safety Assessment Study to evaluate two identified key corridors within Region 2. The study will cover approximately 34 miles of existing roadway and 40 to 60 high priority intersections between both corridors, including:

  • US 50B corridor from Langdon Lane (MP 319.21) to the intersection junction with CO 209 (MP 335.76)
  • US 50C (Business) (Santa Fe Dr) corridor from City Center Drive (MP 0.19) to the intercept junction of US 50B (MP 16.94) within Pueblo County

Schedule & Important Dates

  • Design/Study Start Date: Aug. 12, 2025
  • Public Meeting Date: To be announced
  • Design/Study End Date: June 30, 2026

This project aims to improve safety along both identified corridors and determine needed capital projects that will improve the existing infrastructure.

This study will examine the following needs for improvements to both corridors, as well as produce potential conceptual designs and recommendation to address any identified issues:

  • Evaluate 40 to 60 intersections along both corridors for sight distance obstructions
  • Evaluate both corridors existing passing zone areas for safety issues
  • Evaluate both corridors, existing roadway profile (crown & cross slope) for safety issues
  • Conduct a Road Safety Audit that will evaluate existing crash history to identify potential road safety issues for all road users
